St. Joseph’s Church was founded in 1890 by early Catholic missionaries serving the region around Hubli. The first structure was a small chapel built to serve the local Christian families and visiting faithful.
1920s – Growth of the Parish
As the community expanded, the church was developed into a larger building to accommodate growing numbers. Holy Mass and sacraments were conducted regularly, and parish groups began forming to support worship and charity.

After the establishment of the Diocese of Belgaum, St. Joseph’s Church became part of its jurisdiction. The parish began receiving priests and resources from the diocese, strengthening its pastoral work and education programs.
1970s – Youth and Choir Groups Emerge
The parish became more active with the start of youth associations, choir groups, and catechism programs for children. The church became a center for spiritual and cultural activities within Keshwapur.

With the help of parishioners and well-wishers, the church underwent renovations — adding new facilities and improving the structure. The parish also expanded its community outreach and educational initiatives.
2000s – A Growing Family of Faith
The parish continued to grow with more families joining. Regular Masses were offered in multiple languages — English, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Konkani — reflecting Hubli’s diverse Catholic community.

Under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Maxim D’Souza, the present parish priest, the church continues its mission of bringing people closer to God through prayer, service, and the Word. With renewed energy and commitment, Fr. Maxim D’Souza encourages every parishioner to live the Gospel values in everyday life, making St. Joseph’s Church not only a place of worship but also a symbol of hope and togetherness for the community of Hubballi.
